Ever since I read “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark” as a child, I have been hooked on that little rush of fear. I think it is time for some scary stories as we draw near the month of Halloween. Enjoy… I begin tucking him into bed and he tells me, “Daddy check for monsters under my bed.” I look underneath for his amusement and see him, another him, under the bed, staring back at me quivering and whispering, “Daddy there’s somebody on my bed.” I woke up to hear knocking on glass. At first, I thought it was the window until I heard it come from the mirror again. My daughter won’t stop crying and screaming in the middle of the night. I visit her grave and ask her to stop, but it doesn’t help. I looked out my window. The stars had gone away. You hear your mom calling you into the kitchen. As you are heading down the stairs you hear a whisper from the closet saying “Don’t go down there honey, I heard it too.” It’s feet get closer. Now it’s feet are in front of my face. It speaks “There are no monsters under your bed.” I smile. The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock at the door. And Then…. Feel free to scare us by telling us your favorite scary stories in the comments! Sources: More Short Scary Stories

When Halloween time comes around one question is sure to be heard more than any other – “What is the best haunted house?” It would be great if there was a standout “best”…one house we all could point to every time the question was asked. However, we live in a world made up of all types of fascinating people, not to mention ghosts and ghouls and the dearly departed. Each person has his or her own personal preferences and likes. The good news is that the Dallas – Fort Worth and surrounding areas have plenty of haunted houses to choose from, one for every type of person, and all sorts of tastes. Below are a few questions to ask yourself that may help you narrow down the many options, as well as a few recommendations to help get you started. What Scares You This is a very personal question and one that is most likely to help you find the “best” haunted house for you. Do werewolves leave you shaking in your boots? You are in luck, Thrillvania in Terrell offers just that. Are you scared of dolls with those creepy little human faces? Head over to The Fatal End in the West End for their Dollz haunted house in Dallas. Zombies are certainly popular these days. There is just something scary about the dead coming back to get you, not to mention all that unsightly gore in the face. Zombie Manor in Arlington is there to meet your walking more »
Hangman’s House of Horrors will celebrate its 25th year this year, and also it’s last. The longest running haunted house in Fort Worth will be closing it’s doors after the 2013 haunting season. The haunt opens on Friday the 13th of September and closes their doors for good on November 2nd. It is extremely sad when such a well established haunt closes its doors, I know Hangman’s House of Horrors will be missed by many fans. Don’t get too down though, there are plenty of haunts opening their doors, 3 brand new ones for 2013 in fact, including: Dark Hour Haunted House, The Dark Path Haunt, and The Strangling Brothers Haunted Circus. Let’s help Hangman’s go out with a BANG! and also welcome all the new up and comers to the DFW area. It’s going to be a great haunt season!
Let’s face it, while haunted attractions are a lot of fun, everything’s so much better with a beer in hand. And though we certainly are not encouraging irresponsible drinking (i.e. don’t be the A-hole puking in the haunt), a brew or two before venturing into a haunt can give you the nerves of steel you need to survive this ghastly experience. Then again, strong drinks sometimes have the opposite effect on people and can make ordinarily courageous people scream like a little girl. Either way it should be fun! Here are the top haunted houses and other spooky places in the DFW area where you can grab a drink before or after the scares. The Boneyard Source: www.theboneyard.org This haunted house located in Arlington, Texas is one of the best places for those over 21 to get their beer and scare on, as the Voodoo Lounge calls this haunt home. This is a great place to relax before or after the event. They also have fortune tellers and games to play to keep the evening going. If you are there with friends but don’t feel like going through the haunted house yourself, then this is a fine place to rest your bones until your group reemerges. It’s also a perfect solution for parents bringing kids, as you can send the kids through and sit and relax with a beer while you wait. They sell beer, wine, popcorn, hot dogs, pretzels, candy, soda, energy drinks and more. Six Flags Fright Fest more »
